Lincoln woman sentenced for embezzling $2 million from bank
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - A 63-year old Lincoln woman has been sentenced to 3 years and 9 months in prison for stealing about $2 million from the bank where she worked.
A federal judge on Monday also ordered Nancy J. Huskins to pay back the money and remain under supervised release for five years after leaving prison. Prosecutors say Huskins stole the money over 17 years from the State Bank of Lincoln. She pleaded guilty in July.
Huskins' attorney, Daniel Noll, says she used the money to pay off credit cards and "help support her family."
As head teller, Huskins had access to the bank's vault. Prosecutors say she was entrusted with significant access to large amounts of cash.
The president and CEO of the bank said there was no misuse of customer accounts.
