Citizen police academy:

The next Lake County Sheriff's Office citizen police academy begins March 12. The academy is a 10-week free program for Lake County residents with classes from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. every Thursday. Instruction is provided by deputies and civilians and is designed to provide a hands-on experience for participants to include training at various sheriff's facilities throughout the county. Participants must be 21 or older with no felony convictions. Applications are available at the sheriff's administrative office, 25 S.
