Minnesota Orchestra back on for Carnegie Hall

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The Minnesota Orchestra is getting a chance to make up for Carnegie Hall concerts that were canceled during the orchestra's labor dispute.

The orchestra has been invited to return to New York to play Carnegie on March 3, 2016.

The cancellation of Carnegie appearances during the 16-month musicians lockout led to the resignation of music director Osmo Vanska in 2013. Vanska has since returned to the orchestra.

Orchestra president and CEO Kevin Smith tells Minnesota Public Radio News (http://bit.ly/1K6eaUu ) the Carnegie invitation is a huge vote of confidence.

At Carnegie, the orchestra will perform the Sibelius 1st and 3rd Symphonies as well as his violin concerto with soloist Hilary Hahn.

The orchestra also recently announced it will resume and complete recording of all the Sibelius symphonies.
