Madison police initiative targets mentally ill

MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Madison's police chief plans to introduce a new initiative aimed at helping people with mental health issues.

WKOW-TV (http://bit.ly/1yURSDu ) says Chief Mike Koval will introduce several new mental health liaison officers at a news conference Monday and talk about how they'll be used in all of Madison's police districts.

Last week, Koval created two new task forces - one on violent crime and the other focusing on burglaries.
