Man ordered to stand trial in rape of 11-year-old girl

HIGHLAND PARK, Mich. (AP) - A 24-year-old man has been ordered to stand trial in the rape of an 11-year-old girl who was forced into a vacant house as she walked to catch a school bus.

The Detroit News reports (http://bit.ly/15sozfo ) the victim pointed out Ramirez Dewberry as her attacker during his preliminary examination Friday in a Highland Park courtroom.

The girl said she was grabbed from behind and taken into an abandoned house where a gun was put to her mouth.

Dewberry is charged with criminal sexual conduct, kidnapping and assault.

Police say tips led to his arrest this month in connection with the Dec. 11 attack that angered the community and led to a door-to-door effort to solve the crime.

Dewberry remains jailed. A hearing is scheduled Friday in Wayne County Circuit Court.
