Bundesliga increases revenue for 10th straight season

FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) - The Bundesliga has increased revenues for the 10th straight season, with 13 of 18 clubs making a profit in 2013-14.

Figures released Thursday show the Bundesliga's revenue rising to 2.45 billion euros ($2.85 billion), up 12.9 percent from the previous season.

The percentage of revenue devoted to player payroll dropped to an average of 36.8 percent from 42.4 percent the previous season. The European average is 65 percent, according to the Union of European Football Associations.

Players earned 53 million euros ($61.58 million) more than in 2012-13, totaling 900 million euros ($1.045 billion).

The Bundesliga employs more than 48,000 people. Champion Bayern Munich is the biggest club, with revenue of 487.5 million euros ($566.38 million) last season.
