Bradley University's first woman president plans to retire
PEORIA, Ill. (AP) - Bradley University President Joanne Glasser plans to retire at the end of May.
She said in a news release Thursday that the decision to retire was difficult. But she added she believes the university needs "fresh eyes and new ideas" after her eight years on the job.
Doug Stewart is chairman of the board of trustees that oversees the private university. He says Glasser will leave a lasting legacy at Bradley.
Glasser became Bradley's 10th president in 2007. She is the Peoria school's first woman president.
She oversaw a $150 million capital campaign and a number of building and renovation projects at the 5,700-student school.
Stewart says the board will discuss the search for a new president at its next meeting Feb. 5 and 6.
