Boy who brought loaded gun to Michigan school gets probation
TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (AP) - An 11-year-old boy who brought a loaded gun to his northern Michigan school has been placed on probation for two years.
The boy was in fifth grade in September when another student at Kingsley Middle School told a teacher about the weapon. No one was hurt at the school, southeast of Traverse City.
The boy was placed on probation Thursday in Grand Traverse County, two months after pleading guilty to carrying a concealed weapon. He must resume his education, probably online.
Assistant prosecutor Noelle Moeggenberg says the boy can apply to have his conviction set aside if he stays out of trouble for five years. He turns 12 in April.
