Believe Project: $100 for a family that sees beyond their problems to help others

Today's winner of a $100 bill through the Believe Project is Susan Grandt of Elk Grove Village.

Here is an excerpt of her pitch:

"I've met a local family consisting of a mom in dire need of a knee replacement, a dad with heart issues and a daughter frequently hospitalized with swelling due to a nonfunctioning lymphatic system.

"Together, they care for an adorable 7-year-old. One would think they'd be wallowing in their sorrows, but that isn't the case. They also collect and distribute necessities for the homeless when health allows.

"I have never met anyone with more need, yet a pure heart of giving."

• The Believe Project will mail a $100 bill each day to someone with a good idea for how to use it to do a good deed for someone else. Email us your pitch of 100 words or fewer (include your name, address and hometown) to specialevents@dailyherald.com.
