Boys basketball: Week 7 MVP

Geneva senior Nate Navigato has earned Daily Herald boys basketball MVP honors for his recent performances.

Nate Navigato, Geneva: The 6-foot-7 swingman led Geneva to the title of Moline's Martin Luther King round-robin tournament and was named MVP. The Buffalo-bound senior averaged 21 points with games of 24, 21 and, in an 82-59 win over Urbana that earned the Vikings the 4-0 sweep, a season-high 33 points.

Aidan Einloth, Grayslake North: The Knights didn't play in a Christmas tournament, but the layoff didn't affect the 6-foot-5 junior. After scoring 17 points in the team's first game of 2015, he averaged 20 points in four contests in Washington's MLK tourney. He had a season-high 25 points against Alton.

Chris Lester, Barrington: Lester helped Barrington stay perfect in the Mid-Suburban West race with a 20-point performance at Schaumburg in a 55-44 Broncos victory. Lester, a 6-foot-6 senior forward, also had 4 rebounds and 3 blocked shots for the Broncos (14-4, 4-0).

Chrishawn Orange, Jacobs: This 6-foot-2 senior was the driving force behind a 32-point victory over Crystal Lake South. Orange not only paced the first-place Golden Eagles with 24 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field and 10-of-12 shooting from the free-throw line, he also contributed 7 rebounds and 3 steals to lead Jacobs to the 75-43 win.

Josh Ruggles, Wheaton Warrenville South: An amazing 24-hour effort from the 6-foot-2 senior led to three wins, including two at the WW South MLK tournament. Ruggles scored 28 points to help beat Glenbard North, then scored 26 and 27 points against Glenbard East and Notre Dame to push the Tigers into the WW South semifinals.
