Equipment problem cancels flights at Delta County Airport

ESCANABA, Mich. (AP) - Officials say a problem with weather equipment at a small airport in Michigan's Upper Peninsula has led to flight cancelations.

The Daily Press of Escanaba and WLUC-TV report arriving and departing commercial flights at Delta County Airport have been canceled until the weather observation system is fixed. The system is used to give airlines information about sky conditions, visibility, temperatures and winds.

The system malfunctioned on Sunday and commercial flights have been canceled since then. Airport officials say a maintenance crew from the Federal Aviation Administration plans to check out the weather equipment on Tuesday. That will determine when flights resume.
