Court challenger has no opinion on civil rights legislation

MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Wisconsin Supreme Court challenger James Daley says he has no opinion on 1960s civil rights decisions but believes the courts provided solutions during a hard time.

Daley told reporters after an appearance before the Wisconsin Technology Council's board of directors on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus that he has no opinion on the effects of the civil rights decisions, saying in his words that "our world is as it is today."

He quickly added that the decisions couldn't be wrong since they resulted in President Barack Obama's election. He said the courts helped solve problems during a tumultuous time.

Daley's opponent, incumbent Justice Ann Walsh Bradley, spoke to the board after Daley left but didn't take any questions from reporters afterward. She said she had to rush to another appointment.
