Carlisle teacher pleads guilty to drug possession
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - A long-time Carlisle Middle School teacher and high school coach has pleaded guilty to a state charge of crack cocaine possession
The Des Moines Register reports (http://dmreg.co/1CjWuSc ) that Jim Flaws pleaded guilty Thursday morning to possessing crack cocaine during a traffic stop on Oct. 16.
Flaws has been a social studies teacher and varsity girls' softball coach at the school for more than 30 years. The school has won four state softball titles during his tenure.
Flaws has taken a leave of absence from his teaching and coaching positions until the end of the year, and will retire from teaching at the end of this academic year. He is expected to return to his coaching job in the fall.
