Believe Project: $100 to make blankets for cancer patients

Today's winner of a $100 bill through the Believe Project is Iris Kanter of Buffalo Grove.

Here is an excerpt of her pitch:

"For the past four years, my daughter and I have been volunteering our time, crocheting decorative edges on fleece blankets to be donated to patients undergoing chemotherapy. As part of a group of volunteers for North Shore Senior Center's "Share the Warmth" project, I would love to give them $100 to purchase material and yarn so that we can continue donating the handmade blankets to these patients. Thousands of blankets have been donated to local cancer centers. Every month, more than 100 chemotherapy patients receive a blanket at the start of their treatment, helping them feel cared for and loved."

• The Believe Project will mail a $100 bill each day to someone with a good idea for how to use it to do a good deed for someone else. Email us your pitch of 100 words or fewer (include your name, address and hometown) to specialevents@dailyherald.com.
