Worker burned in suburban Detroit concrete plant fire dies

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. (AP) - A southeast Michigan man has died of severe burns from a fire at a concrete plant where he was working.

Thirty-seven-year-old Greg Messenger of Temperance died Thursday night at Detroit Medical Center.

His sister-in-law, Julie Messenger, says the hospital did everything it could for him.

Greg Messenger was burned on his arms, hands and face when he was trapped in the fire Jan. 8 in a large storage tower at Piedmont Concrete in Farmington Hills. Six others injured in the fire have recovered.

The Monroe News (http://bit.ly/1DKFTLx ) reports the Farmington Hills Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire. Fire Marshal Jason Olszewski says it appears accidental. The owner of Piedmont Concrete says the tower was being restored.
