Ragdale, the nationally acclaimed artists' residency program in Lake Forest, invites architects, designers and artists to apply for the opportunity to design, build, and exhibit the 2015 Ragdale Ring, a temporary outdoor theater to house summer concerts, performances, and events.

Ragdale seeks proposals for a full-scale project and installation that consider contemporary, fanciful and functional interpretations of the original Ragdale Ring, designed by architect Howard Van Doren Shaw in 1912 as a garden theater.

A jury of architects, artists and arts administrators will select a single project to realize at full scale on the Ragdale grounds. The recipient will receive a $15,000 production grant to fund the project, as well as a design-build residency for a team of up to 10 individuals for 18 days. The project must be completed by June 5.

The deadline for submissions is Friday, Feb. 20. The winning team will be notified on Friday, March 13.

Ragdale is at 1260 N. Green Bay Road, Lake Forest. For complete project guidelines, eligibility, application instructions and visuals, visit www.ragdale.org/residency/ragdale-ring. For questions, call (847) 234-1063 or email info@ragdale.org.

Ragdale is a nonprofit artists' residency on architect Howard Van Doren Shaw's country estate in Lake Forest. Ragdale hosts up to 150 artists, writers and composers at all stages of their career for 18- to 25-day residencies each year, making it the one of the largest interdisciplinary artist communities in the country.
