Peterson leads No. 25 Syracuse over Wake Forest 73-62

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - Alexis Peterson scored a career-high 32 points, 13 more than her previous best, to lead No. 25 Syracuse to a 73-62 victory over Wake Forest on Thursday night.

Syracuse led all the way and was up by four with 2:19 left. Peterson then had a layup and added a three-point play to extend the Orange's lead to 67-58 with under a minute remaining.

The Orange (12-5, 2-2 ACC) outrebounded the Demon Deacons 47-35 with the help of 13 boards from Briana Day. Syracuse shot only 31.9 percent to 42.6 for Wake Forest (9-9, 0-4) but the Demon Deacons had 24 turnovers.

Dearica Hamby scored 28 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for Wake Forest with Amber Campbell adding 13 points. It was Hamby's ninth double-double this season.

Peterson's 32 points are the most for Syracuse since Kayla Alexander had 34 against Villanova in the 2013 Big East tournament.
