Man charged with sexual abuse involving 12-year-old girl
BURLINGTON, Iowa (AP) - A Burlington man has been arrested on charges he had sex with a 12-year-old girl.
The Hawk Eye newspaper reports (http://bit.ly/1Cc0t3b ) 18-year-old Aswad A. Sterling Jr., was charged Wednesday with third-degree sexual abuse. If convicted, Sterling faces up to 10 years in prison.
Court records charge Sterling had sex with the girl several times at his home in December.
Sterling has been ordered to have no contact with the girl. Bail was set at $10,000.
A call to Sterling's attorney was not immediately returned.
Sterling will next appear in court Jan. 23.
