Logistics center planned on former GM property in Detroit

DETROIT (AP) - Former General Motors properties in Detroit have been sold and are expected to be redeveloped with a logistics center employing more than 200 people.

The Revitalizing Auto Communities Environmental Response Trust announced the agreement this week with real estate and development companies. They are working on behalf of an undisclosed manufacturer to build the center that will include a warehouse, cross-dock facility and paved yard for up to 350 trucks.

The buyers of the properties in the Clark Street Technology Park on the city's southwestern side are General Development Co. and Friedman Integrated Real Estate Solutions.

The RACER Trust says construction will begin soon and is expected to take eight months.

The RACER Trust took over sites around the country left behind in General Motors' 2009 bankruptcy reorganization.
