Fundraising for future Obama library picks up pace

WASHINGTON (AP) - The nonprofit raising money for President Barack Obama's future library is picking up the pace of its fundraising, bringing in up to $5 million in the last three months of 2014.

The Barack Obama Foundation launched last February. All told, the foundation has raised at least $3.3 million and possibly as much as $7 million.

The majority of those dollars rolled in during the final months of the year. Many were repeat donations from Obama supporters who had already given to the library project before.

The largest donations to the foundation have all come from donors based in Chicago. Illinois, Hawaii and New York are all competing vigorously to host the project.

Obama's foundation is voluntarily disclosing large contributions in ranges. The biggest donations totaled between $500,000 and $1 million.
