Autopsies determine 3 Chicago men died of exposure

CHICAGO (AP) - Autopsies have determined three men found dead earlier this week in a vacant home on Chicago's North Side died from exposure.

The Cook County medical examiner's office says the three men were pronounced dead Monday at the scene.

The identities of the three were not known Wednesday. However, the medical examiner's office said two of the men were in their 40s and the third in his 50s.

Officials say autopsies found all three men died of hypothermia due to cold exposure. A secondary cause of death was alcohol intoxication.

The medical examiner ruled the deaths accidental.

Neighbors say the house where the men were found was often used by homeless men who spent summers in nearby parks or gangways.

Officials say the victims bring the number of cold-related deaths this season in Cook County to 14.
