Stevenson Foundation announces 2016-17 performance series

Tribute shows honoring Paul McCartney and Audrey Hepburn, and a romp through the history of rock 'n' roll with one of the original cast members of Million Dollar Quartet highlight the Stevenson Foundation's annual Professional Performance Series.

The Foundation's series kicks off with a free concert by the Great Lakes Naval Station show band, Liberty Call, at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30, in the West Auditorium. The patriotic group will perform a wide array of songs in advance of Veterans Day.

Lance Lipinsky, an original cast member of Million Dollar Quartet, brings his band, The Lovers, to the Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10, for "Rock Baby Rock." The show provides a tour through the early years of rock music, featuring songs from such 1950s and '60s titans as Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Bill Haley and the Comets, Johnny Cash, and many more. Tickets are $20.

At 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28, "The McCartney Years" comes to town, showcasing the music of Paul McCartney from his two decades in The Beatles and Wings. The show has received accolades from former Wings guitarist Denny Laine, and original Beatles promoter Sid Bernstein. Tickets are $20.

Hilary Ann Feldman and Beckie Menzie, who honored comedian Carol Burnett as part of the Foundation's series last year, returns at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 12, with "A Musical Tribute to Audrey Hepburn." The show traces the rise of Hepburn from World War II refugee to award-winning actress and world-renowned humanitarian. Tickets are $15.

Also on the series docket are two children's plays: "Beauty and the Beast" on Sunday, Oct. 23, and "The Princess and the Pea" on Feb. 5. Performances will be held at 1 and 3 p.m. each day in the West Auditorium, and tickets are $5.
