Yield sign coming to Wheeling intersection after complaints

Wheeling public works crews will install a new yield sign at the T-shaped intersection of Picardy Lane and Meyerson Way.

Police studied traffic at the intersection and recommended the sign. There have been no reported traffic crashes there in a nearly 10-year period ending Nov. 20, 2014, police said, but the village has received complaints about drivers failing to slow down or stop before proceeding through the intersection.

Now, westbound traffic on Picardy Lane will yield to north and southbound traffic on Meyerson Way, police said.

Officers will start enforcing the change a month after crews install the sign.
