Indiana health chief: Flu not taken seriously enough
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Indiana's health commissioner says Hoosiers are not taking the flu seriously enough.
Dr. Jerome Adams tells WISH (http://bit.ly/1ItmQp2 ) says Indiana ranks 13th from the bottom in the country for getting flu shots, and that's part of the reason why so many people are getting sick.
Adams says "people don't take the flu seriously. Most people either don't get the flu, or when they get the flu they get better. But it's important to note that the flu can be serious, and it can cause death and we can prevent it."
Thirty flu deaths were reported to the Indiana State Department of Health during the most recent weekly reporting period, raising the total number of flu-related deaths this season to 66.
