Former Iowa school worker makes plea deal in fraud case

GARNER, Iowa (AP) - A former school worker in northern Iowa has agreed with prosecutors to plead guilty in a Medicaid fraud case.

A plea change hearing is scheduled Feb. 10 for Brooke Banse, who'd been a student advocate at Garner-Hayfield Elementary School. Banse had pleaded not guilty to charges of fraudulent practice and records tampering. Prosecutors have said Banse submitted records and received federal Medicaid payments for services she did not provide.

Under the agreement with prosecutors, the tampering charge will be dropped and the other charge will be lowered.

She no longer works for the school district.
