Library of Michigan releases 2015 Notable Book list
LANSING, Mich. (AP) - The Library of Michigan has released its annual list of 20 notable books that celebrate the state's people, places and events.
The state-run library based in Lansing has published a list of books focusing on Michigan or the Great Lakes Region, or written by a Michigan author every year since 1991. State Librarian Randy Riley says this year's list represents a variety of fiction, story collections, history, children's books, mysteries, poetry and memoirs.
The 2015 Notable Book list features stories about Detroit's role as the "arsenal of democracy" during World War II, fishing in the Au Sable River and the struggles of a Nazi concentration camp survivor as she settled into her postwar life in Detroit.
Representatives from 10 organizations and libraries sat on the selection committee.
