Democrats say Pence didn't address many Indiana problems

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The top Democrats in the Indiana Legislature say Republican Gov. Mike Pence is playing to national politics rather than addressing the state's problems

House Minority Leader Scott Pelath (PEE'-lath) of Michigan City says Pence was going down a tea party checklist during his State of the State speech Tuesday night in hopes of preparing for a 2016 presidential campaign.

Pelath says proposals such as expanding the state's private school voucher program and adopting a state balanced budget amendment were rhetoric aimed at Republican voters in other states.

Senate Minority Leader Tim Lanane (LAN'-in) of Anderson says Pence offered no solutions for increasing the wages of Indiana residents and bringing more jobs to the state.
