3 charged with illegally hunting deer in Illinois

OLNEY, Ill. (AP) - State officials say two 18-year-olds from southeast Illinois and one juvenile have been preliminarily charged with illegally hunting deer at night.

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources said Monday the three are accused of illegally killing 13 deer.

According to the DNR, Caleb L. Diel and Dylan E. Mitchell of Olney both face charges of felony resource theft, unlawful hunting by use of lights from a vehicle and unlawful deer hunting at night. The juvenile faces similar charges. Olney is 100 miles south of Champaign.

A Richland County Court official said Diel and Mitchell will make their first appearances Jan. 27. Neither has entered a plea and neither has obtained legal representation.

Neither Diel nor Mitchell could be located for comment.
