Cardale Jones amused by comparisons to Winston after fumble

DALLAS (AP) - Ohio State quarterback Cardale Jones was amused by all the comparisons to Florida State's Jameis Winston after an odd fumble in the championship game.

Jones was trying to backpedal away from an Oregon rusher in the third quarter when the ball somehow slipped from the quarterback's grasp, the Ducks recovering at the Buckeyes 23. Social media lit up with side-by-side pictures of Jones's play and Winston's comical Rose Bowl fumble against Oregon, which was compared to a cartoon character slipping on a banana peel.

Jones said Tuesday the comparisons were "funny." He also joked, "They must have done something to the ball for us both to do the same thing."

Winston's fumble was returned for a touchdown by Oregon. Jones' turnover didn't hurt - the Buckeyes romped to a 42-20 victory.
