Arkansas' Philon leaving for the NFL draft

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas defensive tackle Darius Philon says he is leaving school after three years to enter the NFL draft.

The sophomore, who redshirted his first season with the Razorbacks, played two seasons at Arkansas - where he was second on the team with 11. 5 tackles for losses this season.

Arkansas coach Bret Bielema said last week he had met with Philon following the season and was hopeful the 6-foot-2, 272-pound standout would return next season.

Philon had 46 tackles overall while playing in all 13 games this season for the Razorbacks, finishing second on the team with 4.5 sacks.

The Razorbacks were 3-9 last season, when Philon had 46 tackles as a freshman, and improved to 7-6 this season - including a 31-7 win over Texas in the Texas Bowl.
