Heard of separation of church, state?

Heard of separation of church, state?

Thanks for the article on Elgin's Nightmare fest, it was very informative. As stated in the article, the $34,000 lost by the city is a good investment in getting people drawn to downtown Elgin.

The one, very troubling statement in the article was by Councilman Toby Shaw: "I'm not opposed to it from a financial perspective, but I'm not found of the themes and what it stands for, from a religious background."

Councilman Shaw, are you serious? You were joking, were you not? I know that you are not trying to push your religious views, whatever they may be, on the good people of Elgin.

And if you were serious with that statement then you should do all of us a favor and resign as councilman and devote all your time to what ever religion you believe. I'm sure they would welcome you devoting the time that you now spend on the city council to helping your religion.

Secondly have you not heard of separation of church and state? If not then you are not qualified to represent the fine people of Elgin so please step down.
