RI police say domestic fight leads to arrests of 2 fugitives

CRANSTON, R.I. (AP) - Police say a man and woman wanted in Iowa have been arrested by Rhode Island officers responding to a domestic dispute.

Cranston police said officers first found 31-year-old Sheigh Thomas hiding in an apartment bedroom closet at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday. She told them she had argued with her boyfriend, who also lived there.

Police later found 24-year-old Scott Howard.

Police said Thomas is wanted on an Iowa parole violation from charges of driving under the influence and child endangerment. Howard is wanted for escaping from an Iowa work release detail last July while serving a 10-year sentence for theft. Police said Howard also has outstanding Rhode Island warrants on charges including shoplifting and marijuana possession.

They are in custody until arraignments Monday. It's not immediately known if they have lawyers.
