Iowa man sentenced to prison for beating puppy
WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) - A Waterloo man has been sentenced to two years in prison for beating an acquaintance's puppy in November.
The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reported (http://bit.ly/1A36ugl ) Friday that 32-year-old Nathan Jacob Sawvell was sentenced on Dec. 29 in Black Hawk County.
Witnesses told police they heard the assault take place in a basement of an area home and that the suspect was the only person in the room. Police say the 6-month-old terrier mix named Zeke suffered broken teeth, a bloody nose and an eye injury. They say blood was splattered on the floor, walls and a pipe.
