Iowa man charged with dependent person neglect

CLEAR LAKE, Iowa (AP) - A Clear Lake man has been arrested and charged with a felony count of neglect or abandonment of a dependent person.

The Mason City Globe Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/1A30DaN ) that 49-year-old Brian McDaid was booked Friday night into the Cerro Gordo County Jail on $10,0000 cash or surety bond.

Lt. Paul Chizek of the Clear Lake Police Department says the victim in the case is an adult, live-in friend of McDaid's.

Jail officials say McDaid was freed on bond Saturday morning. Reached at his home Saturday morning, McDaid said he is innocent of the charge. He declined further comment.
