Sergeant gets stuck in snow, warns others to avoid driving
MUSKEGON, Mich. (AP) - A member of a sheriff's department in western Michigan has a firsthand experience to share when encouraging people to stay off snowy roads.
The Muskegon Chronicle reports (http://bit.ly/1BUcCtV ) that Muskegon County sheriff's Sgt. Mike Herremans found out just how bad roads were in the northern part of the county early Friday when his own cruiser became stuck in heavy, blowing snow.
Herremans says the roads are "really bad" and people should avoid traveling, if possible. Crews are working to deal with snow and ice.
Winds are blowing snow, making visibility more difficult in places. The National Weather Service has storm warnings in effect.
