Open murder charge issued in Walker hotel homicide

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) - Walker police say a homicide-open murder charge has been filed against a parole absconder named as a person of interest in an 81-year-old man's death.

Twenty-nine-year-old Matthew Brunn was arrested last weekend in Detroit on suspicion of vehicular theft. Police say Brunn stole a vehicle belonging to Casey Wybenga of Wyoming.

Wybenga was found dead and his vehicle missing on Dec. 30 at a hotel in Walker. A medical examiner said there were no outward signs of injury to his body.

The Grand Rapids Press (http://bit.ly/17oAAUK ) reports authorities searched for Brunn, who allegedly cut his ankle monitor off the night before Wybenga's body was discovered.

Police say Brunn violated parole and was equipped with the electronic tether in mid-November when he took Wybenga's vehicle.

It wasn't immediately clear if Brunn has an attorney.
