2 lieutenants temporarily leading Clear Lake police

CLEAR LAKE, Iowa (AP) - Two lieutenants have been leading the Clear Lake Police Department following the death of their chief.

The Mason City Globe Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/1wBIxvC ) that Paul Chizek (CHEE'-zehk) and Debra Ryg (rihg) have been sharing the departmental management duties.

Chief Rex McChesney died Dec. 26 of pancreatic cancer. He had been sworn in as interim chief in March following the retirement of Chief Greg Peterson.

A six-member committee has been appointed to aid the search for a new chief.
