Meet Elgin City Council hopefuls at Kiwanis Club

During the next several weeks, the Kiwanis Club of Elgin is welcoming candidates for the upcoming election for the Elgin City Council. The spring election will be held on April 7.

On Tuesday, Jan. 13, they will welcome incumbent John Steffen, followed on Jan. 20 by challenger Kyle Scifert, and on Jan. 27 by challenger Jaime Hjelm.

The Kiwanis Club of Elgin, now in its 95th year, received its charter March 9, 1920, and serves the Kiwanis International mission, to change the world one child at a time, one community at a time. In that time, the Elgin noon club donated over one million dollars to organizations in Elgin and South Elgin.

Anyone interested in joining the club is invited to attend a weekly lunch meeting, held at noon each Tuesday at The Hickory Stick Bar & Grille Restaurant, 875 Sports Way, Elgin, at the Highlands Golf Course.
