Verso-NewPage deal complete

WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (AP) - Verso Paper has completed its acquisition of NewPage Holdings, which includes mills in Wisconsin Rapids and Stevens Point and a research and development facility in Biron.

Verso now employs 1,300 people in central Wisconsin.

North America's second-largest coated paper producer announced a year ago that it planned to buy NewPage for $1.4 billion. NewPage is the largest coated paper producer in North America. NewPage sold its Biron paper mill to a Canadian company in order to expedite regulatory hurdles. That sale has also been completed.

Daily Tribune Media (http://wrtnews.co/1IvdtTK ) reports Verso executives plan to visit the Wisconsin mills during the next few weeks.
