Believe Project: $100 to help elderly woman and sick daughter

Today's winner of a $100 bill through the Believe Project is Sylvia Walker of Arlington Heights.

Here is an excerpt of her pitch:

"Illness has struck an elderly mother and daughter from Des Plaines, leaving them with little hope. Not only is the 90-plus-year-old mother in a wheelchair due to severe Parkinson's, rheumatoid arthritis and heart problems, but her daughter (her sole caregiver) has terminal metastatic cancer and is undergoing weekly treatment. Monthly Social Security checks barely cover the necessities of day-to-day living, much less leave anything extra. The daughter's car needs new brakes but she can't afford it. I would give the money to them."

• The Believe Project will mail

a $100 bill each day to someone with a good idea for how to use it to do a good deed for someone else. Email us your pitch of 100 words or fewer (include your name, address and hometown) to specialevents@dailyherald.com.
