4-year-old dies after alleged beating by father

SELLERSBURG, Ind. (AP) - Indiana State Police now say their investigation into the alleged beating of a four-year-old boy by his father has turned into a death investigation.

Hayden Dukes died Thursday at Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky after suffering a head injury. The boy's father, 27-year-old Christopher Bruck of the Underwood area of northern Clark County, is currently charged with aggravated battery.

According to police, Bruck said he struck his son with his palm after the boy repeatedly got in face while he watched television. The boy fell and hit his head on the floor.

An autopsy will be performed Friday by the Kentucky Medical Examiner's Office to determine the exact cause of death.

Bruck is being held in lieu of $100,000, cash only bond in the Clark County Jail.
