Chamber Music on the Fox features concerts in Elgin
Side Street Studio Arts, in collaboration with Chamber Music on the Fox, kicks off 2015 with two chamber music performances during the month of January.
Metlicka and Maley
Monday, Jan. 12, at 7:30 p.m. will feature Elgin Symphony Orchestra flautist Scott Metlicka in recital with pianist Rachel Elizabeth Maley, SSSA's artist-in-residence. The program features such masterworks as Prokofiev's Flute Sonata, John La Montaine's Sonata for Piccolo and Piano, and others. This program is supported in part by the Elgin Cultural Arts Commission.
Fifth House Ensemble
Sunday, Jan. 18, at 3 p.m. will feature one of Chicago's best "young chamber groups devoted to shaking up the traditional concert experience," Fifth House Ensemble. The group will brings an exciting program of music for woodwinds to Elgin. Music by Tansmann, Martinu, and Ginastera will be featured.
Both performances are part of the inaugural Chamber Music on the Fox 2014-15 season, and are open to the public.
There is a $15 suggested donation for each performance, and a $5 suggested donation for students for the Metlicka recital. The performances are at Side Street Studio Arts, 15 Ziegler Court, Elgin.

Chamber Music on the Fox, under the artistic direction of Elgin Symphony Orchestra musicians Mark Fry and Sara Sitzer and presented by SSSA, is a chamber music series dedicated to serving the greater Fox Valley Area. The 2014-15 season includes performances by the Spektral Quartet, Fifth House Ensemble, and the Elgin Chamber Players in collaboration with dance ensembles Core Project Chicago and Verity Dance.
