Police searching for two men who robbed St. Charles store

St. Charles police said they are investigating an armed robbery Sunday night at a tobacco store in the 1500 block of East Main Street.

Two men armed with weapons entered the Tobacco and Gift Store about 6:27 p.m., demanded a cellphone from one of two people, and removed two items from a display case, police said.

The first man was armed with a handgun, police said, and is described as white, in his early 20s, up to 5 feet 10 inches tall with blond hair. Police said he was wearing a black/gray poncho and multicolored bandanna.

The second man was armed with a knife, authorities said. He was described as white or Hispanic, up to 6 feet tall and wearing a dark jacket, a dark hat with fur lining, and a black bandanna.

The two men fled the store through the rear door with three items, police said. The owner of the store and a second witness - who were not injured - called police when the men left.

Police said they were unable to find the men after checking the area.
