Gerrard gives Liverpool 2-1 FA Cup win at Wimbledon
LONDON (AP) - Steven Gerrard began his Liverpool farewell tour by scoring twice to give the Reds a 2-1 win over fourth-tier Wimbledon on Monday night in the third round of the FA Cup.
Playing in his first game since announcing he will leave the club at the end of the season for Major League Soccer, Liverpool's captain curled in a tiebreaking free kick in the 62nd minute.
Gerrard had put Liverpool ahead with a header in the 12th minute, but Adebayo Akinfenwa tied the score with a 36th-minute tap-in after goalkeeper Simon Mignolet failed to clear a corner kick.
In Monday's other game, Burnley held Tottenham to a 1-1 draw tie, forcing a replay between the Premier League teams.
