Fan charged after confronting Wenger at game

SOUTHAMPTON, England (AP) - British authorities have charged a football supporter for confronting Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger during Thursday's 2-0 loss at Southampton.

The incident happened at the end of the match at St Mary's Stadium.

Luke Bryant, who lives near Southampton, was arrested and subsequently charged with going illegally onto an area adjacent to the playing area. He will appear at Southampton Magistrates' Court on Jan. 22.

The arrest came after a fan was seen to run with his arms outstretched in front of Wenger as he sat in the dugout late in the game.

Footage showed the man being bundled away down the tunnel by two stewards as Wenger held his arm out in apparent frustration at the intruder.
