Leer, Coyer lift Villanova past DePaul 79-76 in OT

VILLANOVA, Pa. (AP) - Emily Leer scored 25 points, Caroline Coyer added a career-high 23 to lead Villanova to a 79-76 upset of No. 25 DePaul in overtime on Friday.

Leer's layup with three seconds left in regulation forced the overtime and then the Wildcats (6-7, 1-1 Big East) held the Blue Demons (9-5, 1-1) to two free throws in overtime.

Brittany Hrynko made DePaul's last field goal for a 74-70 lead with 53 seconds left. Coyer made it a two-point game with free throws at 40 seconds. Hrynko, who poured in 29 points, missed with 11 seconds left, setting the stage for Leer to tie it.

In overtime DePaul missed seven shots and two free throws.

Jordan Dillard scored on a feed from Leer to make it 78-74 with 3:54 to go before Jessica January made two free throws for DePaul.

Alex Louin had 16 points for Villanova. Magan Pokowa added 15 for DePaul.
