Lake Zurich church to honor Martin Luther King, Jr.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day will be celebrated at St. Peter United Church of Christ, 47 Church St., Lake Zurich, from 10 a.m. to noon Monday, Jan. 19. The program is to honor Dr. King and his work, and to learn more about how people can continue his work for peace and justice.

The keynote speaker will be the Rev. Dr. John H. Thomas, senior adviser to the President and Visiting Professor of Ministry Studies at Chicago Theological Seminary.

The program will be led by the Rev. Vanessa Monroe, youth pastor at Covenant United Church of South Holland, Illinois. Program music and liturgical dance will be presented by youth from Covenant Church.

At the conclusion of the program, a reception will be held in the Fireside Room. The program is open to the public and everyone is welcome to join.
