Buffalo Grove launches social media pages

In an effort to further broaden communications to the Buffalo Grove community, the village has launched Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn pages.

Residents are encouraged to follow the village on any of the three platforms; information and messaging will be consistent on all three pages and communicated on a weekly basis. In addition to general business news, if an emergency situation arises in the village, the pages will be utilized to publicize that information as well.

"We feel it is very important to ensure our residents have information about the village at their fingertips," said Dane Bragg, village manager. "Social Media has become a strong part of our culture, and will assist us in fortifying efforts already in place so residents can stay connected and aware of real-time information."

Other opportunities to plug into village news include the Village of Buffalo Grove app, available for iPhones in the iPhone App Store and for Android phones through the Google Play Store, by searching "Buffalo Grove."

Residents also can sign up for the Notify Me option through the village website to receive emails and/or text messages from a number of village departments. A variety of choices are available and include information from the police and fire departments, as well as street improvement schedules, construction project updates, job postings and the community calendar.

The village E-News provides a weekly email communication sent out on Thursdays, and includes local government updates, as well as emergency information in real-time on an as-needed basis. The E-News is also available for signup through the village website.
