Iowa police arrest suspect in Chicago homicide

IOWA CITY, Iowa - Authorities in Iowa City have arrested a man in connection to a homicide in Chicago.

The Iowa City Police Department says 29-year-old Lorenzo Jones was taken to the Johnson County jail on Monday. He will remain there pending extradition to Chicago to face an arrest warrant on a homicide charge.

Iowa City police say they received information from Chicago police that Lorenzo may be armed with an assault rifle and headed to the Iowa City area.

Authorities later found Lorenzo inside a local residence. A special response team and crisis negotiation team helped take him into custody without incident. Court records do not list an attorney.
