The 'Blues' Turns to Revelry As Mickey Finn's Brewery Hosts 20th New Year's Eve Celebration

LIBERTYVILLE - Mickey Finn's Brewery rolls out the "Blues" for revelers on New Year's Eve, adorning them with party favors, imbibing them with a Champagne Toast, and entertaining them with live music by the Finn's debut of Ivy Ford and the Cadillacs.

Cover charge is $10 per person at Mickey Finn's Brewery, newly relocated to 345 N. Milwaukee Avenue, located a half block south of its old location. Mickey Finn's Brewery is Lake County's newest and oldest brewpub as well as its largest microbrewery.

Ford, who has performed with the legendary Buddy Guy, and the Cadillacs, will be joined by Mike "Funktastic" Zabrin in a special appearance on bass. Blues musician and enthusiast, Ford's influences are the great Muddy Waters, Etta James, James Cotton, Koko Taylor, and many more. Leading bands first through her vocal talents, Ford also plays piano and lead/rhythm guitar. Encouraged to sustain the blues as the roots and substance of American music today, she frequently covers and tributes some of the standard tunes like "Sweet Home Chicago," "Mojo Workin'," and "Down Home Blues."

Mickey Finn's Brewery has enjoyed a significant increase in dining, bar, and banquet business since moving to and substantially making over the historic 345 N. Milwaukee building. It has benefitted from a loyal customer following dating back 20 years when Lake County's largest brewpub was founded and from others trying it for the first time, said Brian Grano, Mickey Finn's Brewery's owner the last ten years.

The menu includes such brewpub favorites as the Mickey Burger, Pat E. Melt, Reuben, and brisket sandwiches; natural gas-fired pizza; and signature hot wings. New to the menu are gluten-free pizza, gluten-free Organic beef burgers, and gluten-free chicken tenders, as well as Finn's Cobb salad and blackened chicken salad, and brisket chili.

The menu is complemented by Mickey Finn's Brewery's award winning, hand-crafted ales and lagers, including a full array of its Amber Wheat, Stout, IPA, and multiple Seasonals. Its most popular creation, Santa's Magic, came out the day after Thanksgiving.

Its much needed banquet facility fills a void in Lake County. Bookings for weddings, rehearsal dinners, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, private parties, sales training meetings, and fund raisers are up significantly from a year ago in the previous building.

The brewpub's massive remodeling of the existing 15,000 square foot office building includes a main dining room with seating for 175, banquet facility serving up to 20 guests, kitchen double the size of the old one boasting state-of-the-art equipment, beer garden, all-you-can-eat Friday fry free weekend entertainment, bigger capacity brewery. There is much more parking available at the new location.

Most recently, Mickey Finn's Brewery was the only suburban Chicago brewpub and one of only four in the entire Chicago area to be honored in Zagat's 2014 edition of "Between The Bun - Must Try Burgers Across The Country." In addition, Mickey Finn's Brewery's was voted "Best Burger, Best Microbrewery, and Best Beer Garden in "Northburbia."

Mickey Finn's Brewery, whose motto is "Life, Libertyville, And The Pursuit Of Happiness," is open Tuesday through Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., and Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. The brewpub is closed on Mondays.
